Irfan Ahmad to be trained by Al Gore at the Asia Pacific Summit

27/06/ 2009

Irfan Ahmad from India, a Student of Jawaharlal Nehru University has been selected from more than 2000 Australasian applicants to be trained by former US Vice President Al Gore at The Climate Project - Australia Asia Pacific Summit (A-P Summit) in Melbourne in 11 – 13 July.

Building on the work of The Climate Project – Australia, the A-P Summit will bring together 300 people representing a diverse cross section of industry, advocacy and broad social groupings from Australasia and the Asia Pacific region. Mr Gore and a panel of international experts will provide the training hosted by the Australian Conservation Foundation.

As a delegate Irfan will have the chance to help focus and re-invigorate the Asia Pacific’s regional response to climate change in the lead into the critical UNCCC Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.

“I hope my role at the A-P Summit will mean I can work to inspire and create change in order to avoid catastrophic climate change here in India. I plan to be an advocate for this work in the important five month lead-up to the Copenhagen climate change negotiations,” Irfan said.

“The A-P Summit has a specific focus on the unique window of time to act on climate change, particularly with the Copenhagen negotiations at the end of this year. Together A-P Summit delegates will inspire people from the region to make a difference at global level,” said Angela Rutter, Manager of The Climate Project ‑ Australia.

One in seventy five Australians have now seen a presentation delivered by the 250 Al Gore trained Climate Project Presenters working throughout communities in Australia.

Introduction to Parkriti:

I have a dream. It is a dream I have tried to accomplish for years. The dream is about our well being and the well being of our nature. We most of the time take care of ourselves, our children and our loved ones, but very often we lagg behind in taking care of our environment, our surrounding where we live, our fellow citizens live and the lives of our loved ones is also very much integrated to the same.

Prakrirti or فطرت or Nature or الفطرة we are well aware of it. we know it's importance that it is the very nature which imprecise our poets and give them and their literary works a life. It's beautiful surrounding pushes them to write good songs music that can heal sick people and give distressed one a new life. so why we are very much indented to destroy our nature? why we have been so much cruel and oppressor towards our own surroundings that's off course nature? why we have been so much selfish and only intended to our own cause. We can see through our eyes how the things are rapidly changing, clean and green lavish fields are being converted to factories destroying the natural flora and fauna, least caring about the healthy environment of our living and our fellow citizens, that envolves human beings, animals, plants and other micro organism.
